Protect yourself from on-line fraud

Safer Streets
A new advice guide has been published to help people and businesses protect themselves from the growing problem of online fraud.

Published by the City of London Police, the guide provides a host of practical advice and assistance aimed at combating fraudsters and raising awareness of the many ways in which they attempt to capitalise on the increasing popularity of doing business online.

The guide includes advice on how to safeguard against becoming a victim of fraud when buying and paying for goods online, transferring money over the internet, using online auction sites, sending and receiving email and electronic greetings cards, booking holidays online, using social networking sites and even donating to charities. For further information and advice visit http://www.cityoflondon.police.uk

For those unfortunate enough to become a victim of fraud, it is important to report it. Action Fraud, the UK’s first national fraud reporting centre has been created, providing a single point of contact for reporting fraud and seeking guidance and advice.
