COVID-19 Statement 26th May 2020

Following the announcement by the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, on 23rd March 2020, businesses in Croydon Business Improvement District have been adhering to the 'lockdown' and social distancing measures, as advised by the government. Now that restrictions are being eased, like many towns and cities, we are focussing on the ‘Release’ phase, which will re-open Croydon.

This 'Release' phase means reopening the town centre in a way that is safe and secure for people to use with confidence, as we continue to follow social distancing advice.

Croydon BID continues to act as a collective voice for your businesses and represents best interests whilst working with Croydon Council, as logistical plans are designed and delivered to ensure Croydon can operate safely and securely in the near future.

So what needs to be considered?

We need to:

  • adapt the public realm to support social distancing measures
  • give appropriate considerations to transport, transport routes, infrastructure and capacity
  • implement a new cleansing plan
  • work with businesses throughout the process – offering support
  • create a clear and comprehensive communications strategy, in collaboration with Croydon Council

The deadline for this is the 15th June 2020, as announced by the government on the 25th May 2020.

We’re here to help. As always, we’re here to help you and your businesses in the town centre. We will be in touch with you to find out how best we can support you in these challenging times.

If you would like to discuss with us any challenges or concerns in regard to your business reopening, please get in touch with us by email,, or contact a member of our team directly, here.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Stay safe.
