Additional police funding results in success

In collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Service, Croydon BID funded additional police patrols in the town centre to provide direct support to businesses during the Christmas season.
An additional 32 hours of policing per week were drafted in to provide extra presence, practical assistance, advice, and reassurance to members of the public and local businesses in Croydon town centre.

Beginning the week of 28th November 2022, and lasting until 31st January 2023, the extra patrols supported both the daytime and evening retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors, providing visitors with increased reassurance and allowing them to enjoy the Christmas festivities uninterrupted.

The BID-funded police force worked in collaboration with our Street Rangers, as well as retail businesses and their security teams, resulting in several successful operations, including eight stop and searches, as well as assistance of several shoplifting incidents.

As directed by Croydon BID, the additional officers also focused on building relationships and increasing engagement with local businesses, making a total of 324 business visits.
