Mayor of London endorses Croydon BID proposal 22-27

Today, Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan has endorsed the Croydon BID Business Proposal 2022-2027, drawing reference to our leadership over the past 18 months in supporting all businesses but in particular the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors with our lobbying efforts.

“London is emerging from one of the most difficult periods in its history. This pandemic has affected every one of us both personally and professionally but the capital has shown remarkable resilience in meeting the multiple challenges we face on the road to economic recovery.

“I am extremely proud of our business community, a truly global economic powerhouse that has, through adversity, navigated the past 18 months with creativity and skill.

“Businesses are more than bricks and mortar, they are at the beating heart of our communities. In London we are fortunate to have a network of Business Improvement Districts that deliver the vital support services required to boost our local economies through innovative and transformative projects.

“I am proud to offer my support to Croydon Business Improvement District (BID) as they seek to represent their members for a further five years. At an extraordinarily difficult time, Croydon BID has led from the front, campaigning for greater financial support for the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors and pursuing increased financial aid for businesses with a rateable value of £51k+.

“Croydon BID understands the challenges facing its community and has presented an ambitious yet achievable vision to help reinvigorate its town centre. Business Improvement Districts are pillars of many of our local economies which is why I am delighted to endorse Croydon BID’s Business Proposal for 2022-2027.”
