New additions include clothing stores Dressmode, Maflora, and Rebel Clothing, homewares brand Stacks, and Pinball Republic, a pinball club working with the local council.
Over 200,000 sq ft of lease renewals have also been secured with notable brands such as House of Fraser, Sports Direct, Claire’s, Holland & Barrett, and Waterstones.
Croydon has faced significant challenges in recent years. The £1.4bn redevelopment project for the Whitgift Centre and Centrale, initiated in 2013 by Westfield and Hammerson, encountered delays, plan changes, and financial issues, further complicated by the pandemic.
Last year, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) acquired Hammerson’s remaining stake in the redevelopment, concluding the troubled deal.
“We have such a wide variety of retailers and occupiers at the Centrale and Whitgift centres from major global brands to local, independents, and today’s news is testament to ongoing confidence in Croydon as a retail destination.”
