Croydon backs small business growth with new support programme

A major new business support initiative has launched in Croydon to help early-stage founders and microbusinesses develop the skills, networks and investor readiness they need to grow.

The Croydon Business Support Programme, delivered by StartUp Croydon in partnership with London South Bank University (LSBU) and Orbit, is fully funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through the Croydon Council as part of its local economic growth strategy.

Launched at Weatherill House Business Centre on 6 November, the five-month programme (Nov 2025–Mar 2026) combines structured learning, one-to-one mentoring and an incubator pathway for founders with high-growth potential.

Participants will attend expert-led workshops covering marketing, finance, business planning, and investment readiness. The aim is to strengthen Croydon’s small business ecosystem and increase the sustainability of early-stage ventures.

We’re equipping Croydon’s entrepreneurs with the tools to build businesses that last. Through our partnerships with LSBU and Orbit, we’re connecting local founders to university expertise, industry mentors and investment networks.
Saffron Saunders, Chief Executive of StartUp Croydon.
Croydon is the home of the SME. We’ve got more SMEs than Manchester, more than anybody. You are the backbone of our local economy, and you are the ones that are going to make a real difference going forward.
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon

Orbit’s incubator element provides tailored guidance for founders who are investor-ready or looking to scale. LSBU contributes academic and technical support to help participants apply innovative thinking to real-world business challenges.

Applications are open now for remaining places.
