Croydon BID and Croydonist bring Creative Croydon to life

Croydon BID has brought the work of five celebrated local artists to our streets through a series of bold lamp post banner designs created in collaboration with graphic designer Julia Woolams (31% Wool and co-founder of the Croydonist).
The campaign, aptly titled ‘Creative Croydon,’ features 15 different pieces of art depicting some of Croydon’s notable places and spaces, with colour, vibrancy, and local talents at its heart.

The art, created by Kate Marsden, Gavin Kinch, Tina Crawford, Lis Watkins, and Bev Jones, is displayed on 40+ lamp post banners throughout Croydon town centre, bringing vibrancy and creativity to our streets as Croydon prepares to become the London Borough of Culture next year.

There is so much depth to Croydon’s artistic and cultural talent. Creative Croydon allows us to showcase the colour and vibrancy from some of our most celebrated local artists. Creative Croydon celebrates some of Croydon’s most recognisable landmarks while injecting new life and colour into our streets. Creative Croydon is yet another example of successful collaboration, and we are proud to lead and deliver such a positive campaign.
Matthew Sims, Chief Executive, Croydon BID
As co-founder of cultural blog the Croydonist, one of my passions is highlighting the creativity on display in my hometown. Therefore, it was a joy to partner with Croydon BID through my design consultancy 31% Wool, to bring the work of five celebrated local artists to the town centre. This outdoor group art exhibition called ‘Creative Croydon’ showcases 15 different pieces of art depicting some of Croydon’s notable places and spaces. The art is exhibited on 40+ lamppost banners across Central Croydon, bringing vibrancy, colour and creativity to our wintery streets ahead of Croydon becoming the London Borough of Culture next year.

The project hopes to inspire and delight those who visit, work, and live in Croydon, and showcase the creativity of the borough.
