On Saturday 4 July and Saturday 11 July, before the day’s tennis begins, visitors can enjoy two Disney favourites. The series opens with the vibrant musical adventure Encanto on 4 July, followed by the much-loved animated classic Lilo & Stitch (2002) on 11 July. Both screenings will begin at 10am.
No bookings are required for the screenings – simply turn up, grab a deckchair or beanbag, and settle in for the film. Visitors can also enjoy a selection of treats available to purchase from on-site vendors TAO Cafe and Heavenly Desserts.
Delivered in partnership with the David Lean Cinema, the screenings highlight the cultural hub’s prominent role within the Croydon community. Described by locals as ‘small but mighty’, the independent cinema boasts just 68 seats and screens an impressive array of features, from the latest blockbusters to art house pictures.
The cinema’s patron, the BAFTA-winning actor Joanna Scanlan, makes frequent appearances, advocating for the value of independent cinema and the David Lean Cinema’s role as a cultural beacon in Croydon.
Having the spot at Ruskin Square also means we can attract people from the commuter belt of East Croydon Station, the main gateway to our neighbourhood, and offer something unique to both locals and visitors.
