The enhanced programme enables deeper cleaning of high-footfall streets and public spaces, quicker removal of fly posters, graffiti, and grot spots, and more tailored support for both large estates and independent businesses.
The Croydon BID cleansing team now works 8-hour shifts starting at 4am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Most of their work takes place in the early hours, ensuring the town centre is clean and welcoming for everyone who lives, works, and visits, and preparing Croydon for the day ahead.
The new service directly responds to priorities identified by BID members in the 2025 Croydon BID Business Crime Survey, which explored how the physical condition of the town centre affects perceptions of safety, business confidence, footfall, and overall satisfaction among workers, residents, and visitors.
Under the new programme, Croydon BID now delivers three days of cleansing each week, up from its previous two-day service, supported by an additional day from Croydon Council.
This strengthened partnership, coordinated closely with the Council’s Taskforce, ensures priority areas are identified quickly and that teams are deployed efficiently to address issues as they arise.
With more consistent, visible, and responsive cleansing activity, Croydon BID is turning member feedback into action – helping to create a cleaner, brighter, and more enjoyable town centre for all.
