Croydon BID CEO appointed Chair of London ATCM

Matthew Sims, Chief Executive of Croydon BID, has been appointed the new Chair of the London region of the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM) and will take up his additional responsibilities in February 2023.

ATCM is a not-for-profit membership organisation, one of the largest dedicated to promoting the vitality and viability of urban centres across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

This includes nearly 500 practitioners and partnerships. The members develop and implement shared visions, strategies and action plans for hundreds of district, town and city centres.

I am honoured to have been selected by my peers to lead the London region in representing their needs and the needs of their business communities. We face a series of challenges across the capital as we strive for economic growth. To that end, I am excited by the opportunity in which the role of ATCM London Region Chair presents and look forward to working with the board of directors, executive team and stakeholders but above all, the membership across our incredible city.

As the new Chair of London, Matthew Sims will work closely with the ATCM in advocating on specific policy issues affecting the capital and its vast business community. Working side by side with the Board of Directors and ATCM Chief Executive Ojay McDonald, Matthew Sims will provide support on the current and future strategic aims and objectives while working with key stakeholders including the Greater London Authority.

London is absolutely pivotal to the success of the UK economy, as is our focus on supporting our members and the wider business community across the capital with clear representation on policy matters that affect our high streets both locally, regionally and nationally. The appointment of Matthew Sims as Chair of the London region demonstrates the importance we place in working with our politicians, the Greater London Authority, stakeholders but above all our members in making London and its many high streets a great destination to live, work and play.

ATCM’s membership is diverse, consisting of a mix of publicly funded town centre managers, BIDs, Community Interest Companies, Town Teams, town centre businesses, universities and more. They span across the private, public and voluntary sectors and, as a collective, do not have a sector specific agenda. Instead they are focused on the promotion of healthy places for the benefit of all stakeholders.
