Croydon BID Cleansing Team: Q3 2024 Impact Report

As we step into 2025, it’s time to look back on the Croydon BID Cleansing Team’s efforts to keep Croydon looking its best throughout the final months of 2024.
Throughout Q3, the Croydon BID Cleansing Team made an impressive impact: they removed 347 pieces of graffiti, cleaned 550 pieces of street furniture, and deep-cleaned a total of 14,800 square metres of pavement—roughly the size of two football pitches.

Focused on high-traffic areas like George Street, the team also began the task of cleaning North End, a project that will span two months to complete. Their efforts ensured that the town was looking its best in time for Christmas, laying the foundation for a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Q3 Activity Highlights:

Graffiti and Fly Poster Removal: The team removed a total of 347 pieces of graffiti and fly posters across the town centre. By targeting both visible hotspots and more challenging locations, they played a crucial role in keeping Croydon’s streets looking fresh and inviting.

Street Furniture Cleaning: A total of 550 pieces of street furniture—including bins, benches, and signage—were thoroughly cleaned. These elements may seem simple, but they are key to the overall aesthetic and comfort of the town centre.

Pavement Cleaning: 14,800 square metres of pavement were cleaned, including important areas such as Katharine Street and the Cenotaph, which received extra attention ahead of Armistice Day.

Support for Small Businesses: In preparation for the busy Christmas season, 65 small businesses benefitted from dedicated small business cleans. These tailored services ensured shopfronts, windows, and surrounding areas were cleansed in time for the festive period.

While the festivities are over, the work doesn’t stop there. The Croydon BID Cleansing Team is committed to ensuring our town centre remains a clean and welcoming environment for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.

From ongoing graffiti removal to deep-cleaning high-traffic areas, the team is continuing to put in the hours to keep Croydon looking its best.
