The Croydon BID Cleanding Team also removed 343 instances of graffiti and completed 1,180 additional cleans covering street furniture including signs, benches and bins.
A total of 26,228 square metres of public space was cleaned, ensuring high-footfall routes and key town centre areas were consistently maintained throughout the quarter.
Alongside routine activity, the service delivered 61 small business cleans across two rotations in January and March, bringing the annual total to 152 cleans. This targeted support helps independent traders keep their premises looking their best, removing one less worry so they can focus on running their businesses.
A further 12 large-scale corporate cleans were completed, including works at Southern House, Ruskin Estate, and a deep clean of the East Croydon station area.
These results reflect the continued rollout of Croydon BID’s enhanced street cleansing service, which has already delivered increased capacity and more visible improvements since launching in December 2025.
The uplifted cleansing programme, introduced in direct response to feedback from levy-paying businesses, has doubled Croydon BID’s previous street cleansing provision. The service now delivers 208 additional cleaning days each year, increasing total annual hours from 1,664 to 3,328.
Operating four days a week, the team works 8-hour early morning shifts starting at 4am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, ensuring the town centre is cleaned ahead of peak footfall and ready for the working day.
This model enables more frequent deep cleans of busy areas, quicker removal of graffiti and fly-posting, and more targeted support for both major estates and independent businesses.
