As part of this initiative, Croydon BID will be highlighting the activities of the Croydon Business Crime Reduction Partnership (CBCP) and its role in reducing crime and improving safety across Croydon town centre.
What is a BCRP?:
BCRPs are not-for-profit, local organisations that unite businesses with statutory services like the police and local authorities to prevent crime and antisocial behaviour. BCRPs can be independent entities or part of a Business Improvement District (BID) or local authority.
How BCRPs Work:
One of the key strengths of BCRPs is their ability to tackle repeat offenders by sharing vital intelligence across different business sectors. Members are notified about prolific offenders, ensuring businesses are better informed and equipped to protect themselves.
BCRPs also run community safety initiatives such as Safe Spaces, Ask for Angela, Best Bar None, and collaborative Days of Action. These programs play a vital role in creating a safer environment for staff, customers, and the wider community, showcasing the power of local partnerships in crime prevention
About the Croydon Business Crime Reduction Partnership (CBCP):
The Croydon Business Crime Reduction Partnership (CBCP) is a collaborative network that brings together local businesses, the Croydon Metropolitan Police, Croydon Council, and other key agencies to improve safety across the town centre.
CBCP has 188 members from industries like retail, hospitality, and banking. It enables real-time intelligence sharing, providing businesses with important information on crime trends, prolific offenders, and best practices for crime prevention. CBCP also runs monthly, sector-specific Business Intelligence Forums, where members can hear from the town centre police and other agencies.
