Resources deployed included Croydon BID Street Rangers, 27 officers from the Metropolitan Police, Croydon Council ASB teams, outreach teams from Change Grow Live, and security personnel from Whitgift and Centrale shopping centres.
Businesses across the town centre, including Tesco, Iceland, Boots and JD sports, also drafted in additional security resources.
Throughout the operation, 17 stop and searches were conducted, resulting in 2 Penalty Notices for Disorder (PNDs) and 1 postal charge requisition, alongside significant arrests including one for shoplifting in Iceland and another for failing to appear at court.
The initiative also led to the discovery of 15 snap bags of cannabis during operations, underscoring its impact on reducing drug-related activity. Additionally, officers conducted weapons sweep on Derby Road, supporting ongoing efforts to tackle knife crime.
In addition to law enforcement efforts, outreach teams engaged with individuals in rough sleeping hotspots, providing support and services to those in need. The increased police presence was warmly received by shoppers and business owners, who appreciated the heightened visibility and proactive engagement on issues such as Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
This operation marks the third of its kind this year, with plans for two more in the pipeline, reflecting ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment in Croydon town centre.
