In this, the 8th live festival, 30 artists will be presented over three weeks, offering performance, comedy, storytelling, magic, film and immersive theatre.
The festival opens on 8 October with an evening of magic from Tom Cassani, whose obsession with the skill and precision of sleight of hand asks us to consider the impossible. He will be joined by Norvil & Josephine, who bring breathtaking illusions and comical contortions.
This year’s line-up includes an impressive number of Edinburgh hits, many of which have earned a string of 4- and 5-star reviews. Highlights include In Bed With My Brother with their new work Philosophy of World; Hannah Maxwell with the cheekily titled BABYFLEAREINDEERBAG; storytelling favourite James Rowland with James Rowland Dies at the End of the Show; Selina Thompson’s film of her acclaimed production SALT; and Croydonites’ much-loved returnees Sh!t Theatre, presenting a work-in-progress of Evita Too.
Comedy lovers will enjoy the return of Dick’s Picks, curated by local comedian Dick Denham. This year’s line-up, worthy of any top comedy club, is headlined by Fatiha El-Ghourri and also features Sharifa Butterly, James Allerton, CK Nath, James Murphy, and Dick Denham himself, with MC Leslie Gold keeping order.
As always, Croydonites proudly showcases local talent. This year’s programme features Adeola Yemitan and Catherine Pestano as part of CroydonBuilds, and Anita Wadsworth, Dino Desica, Mitra Djalili, and Good Wolf / Peace of MIND as part of CroydonBites. We are also excited to welcome Jack & Antonia, who playfully explore race and parenthood in All Mixed Up, alongside outdoor physical theatre from Simple Cypher on 11 October in the town centre.
For fans of immersive theatre, Tom Yum Sim Theatre Company brings a special treat with Trainwreck. Taking over the CYTO building, this production delivers an experience that blends AI and DIY with hilarious results.
The Croydonites Festival is funded by Arts Council England and Croydon Council as part of a ring-fenced programme for activation and regeneration in Croydon town centre, and proudly sponsored by Croydon BID. Our support reflects our ongoing commitment to championing local culture, creativity, and community in Croydon.
