Below is a summary of some of the key safety initiatives from the first quarter of the financial year.
Croydon BID Radio Link Expansion
With funding support from Croydon Council, the Croydon BID Radio Link scheme has continued to go from strength to strength. In Q1, seven new radios were issued to frontline outreach teams and businesses, bringing the total number of active radios in operation across the town centre to 93.
This extension gives vital partners – including CGL (Change Grow Live), P4YE, and Anima Youth – direct access to the shared communications network, enabling quicker responses to incidents and better support for vulnerable individuals. Three radios have also been deployed to businesses on London Road, and one to Croydon Council’s licensing team, further strengthening the town’s joined-up approach to safety.

Operation Mooka
Operation Mooka – Croydon BID’s dedicated business engagement patrol initiative with the Metropolitan Police – resumed in June. The targeted police patrols, scheduled every other week through to March 2026, ensure direct engagement between officers and local businesses.
In just the first two patrols of Q1, 84 businesses were visited, with intelligence gathered and frontline teams given the opportunity to raise concerns directly with officers.
Emergency Bleed Kits Introduced
In a major public safety initiative, 20 Publicly Accessible Trauma First Aid Kits (PAcT Kits) were introduced across Croydon town centre in Q1. The project – led by Croydon-based charity JFJ Foundation, in partnership with Croydon Town Centre MPS, Croydon BID, and Croydon Council – aims to provide fast, life-saving trauma care in critical situations.
With over 15,000 knife crime incidents recorded across London in 2024, the installation of these kits is a vital step in improving emergency readiness. Each kit contains military-grade supplies such as tourniquets and wound dressings, along with clear instructions that allow members of the public to provide effective aid, regardless of medical experience.
Ten of the kits are installed in public-access cabinets, and ten have been placed within local businesses, with locations chosen based on police data to ensure maximum impact.

Business Crime Survey
Our Business Crime Survey closed in Q1 with a strong response of 124 submissions. The survey provides valuable insight into the challenges businesses face and will help guide future activity. Results are currently being analysed, with a full report to be shared in due course.
Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour in North End
Croydon BID continues to play an active role in the Croydon Town Centre Taskforce, working with partners to reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB) and improve the trading environment.
This quarter saw the successful removal of problematic seating outside M&S on North End, following concerns raised by businesses. The area had become a hotspot for persistent ASB, often linked to street drinking. The removal – supported by the Taskforce – has significantly reduced incidents in the area, while alternative seating remains available for those in need.
Alongside this, the Taskforce has supported individuals sleeping rough, while taking proportionate enforcement action where required to address entrenched encampments. This coordinated approach is helping to make Croydon town centre a safer, more welcoming place for all.
