Croydon BID Q2 Safety Update: Strengthening Partnerships for a Safer Town Centre

In Q2, Croydon BID continued supporting the local business community, by working closely with Croydon Council, the Metropolitan Police, and local partners to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour, and public safety concerns.

Activity in Q2 included expanding the Croydon BID Radio Link scheme, visible patrols, and business visits by Street Rangers and the Metropolitan Police, along with a range of targeted safety initiatives.

Croydon BID Radio Link

The Croydon BID Radio Link scheme remains a vital tool for real-time communication across Croydon town centre, connecting local businesses, the Metropolitan Police, Street Rangers, and security teams. In Q2, new members from McDonald’s, Pret, and Evapo joined the scheme, with Tesco set to come on board shortly, bringing the total to 93 radios in operation. The system continues to enhance intelligence sharing, helping tackle shoplifting, ASB, and supporting vulnerable individuals.

On the Ground with Croydon’s New Borough Commander

In Q2, Croydon BID welcomed BCU Commander Nick Blackburn for a walk-around of the town centre alongside A/Chief Inspector James Weston, BID’s Director of Operations, Shaun Webster, and the Croydon BID Street Rangers. The visit allowed direct engagement with businesses, insight into hotspot areas, and a hands-on look at persistent offender management, culminating in the arrest of a known prolific offender.
