By focusing on the areas businesses have consistently said matter most, Croydon BID delivers initiatives designed to create safer streets, cleaner spaces, and a more welcoming environment for everyone who lives in, works in, and visits the town centre.
The snapshot below highlights some of the impact delivered over the past year. The full report can be read here: Croydon BID Highlights 2025-2026
Putting Safety First
Safety remains at the heart of Croydon BID’s work. The Croydon BID Street Ranger team delivered over 6,650 hours of patrols, responded to 700 incidents, and recovered more than £30,000 of stolen stock – a service that remains invaluable for local businesses.
The Croydon BID Radio Link scheme also saw strong growth, with 97 handsets now in circulation. The scheme provides businesses with a direct link to the Croydon BID Street Rangers and the Metropolitan Police Service, improving intelligence sharing and enabling faster responses to incidents.
In addition, Croydon BID part-funded 650 additional hours of policing, increasing visibility across the high street and strengthening engagement with businesses.
Together, these initiatives are designed to tackle anti-social behaviour and business crime while building confidence in the town centre.
Brightening Up the Streets
A town centre that looks cared for helps businesses thrive. Over the past year, Croydon BID delivered 2,200 hours of additional cleansing, cleaned more than 3,200 street items, and maintained 60,000 sqm of public space.
Investment in the cleansing service saw it increase from two days per week to four, providing broader coverage and a more consistent presence across Croydon town centre.
Seasonal enhancements continued to play an important role. Croydon BID fully funded 131 Christmas light installations – an often-overlooked feature, but one that plays a significant role in shaping the festive atmosphere of the town centre.
Alongside this, 45 creative street banners were installed in collaboration with local artists through the Creative Croydon series, adding colour and personality to the streets.
More than 8,000 new plants were introduced across 10 key sites, alongside 137 hanging baskets, bringing vibrancy to the high street and surrounding hotspots.
Boosting Croydon’s Appeal
From events to marketing campaigns, Croydon BID continues to invest in activity that showcases everything the town centre has to offer.
In 2025–26, Croydon BID delivered 124 event days through a mix of BID-led and sponsored activity. Sponsorship ensures cultural events such as Croydon Pride and Croydonites Festival can continue to take place, supporting local communities and hospitality venues. BID-owned initiatives, including Elf on the Shelf, bring seasonal activation and creativity to the town centre.
Charitable activity also remained central to Croydon BID’s programme. The Giving Tree Appeal raised over £20,000 to support vulnerable children, with more than 70% of donations coming directly from BID businesses, a clear reflection of the town centre’s generosity.
Marketing efforts continued throughout the year, with over 167,000 consumer emails issued to promote events, offers, and town centre updates. The launch of the Checkout Croydon Card, a local discount scheme featuring 40+ business offers, has already seen more than 6,500 downloads, encouraging residents, workers, and visitors to shop and spend locally.
Championing Local Businesses
Representation and engagement are at the heart of Croydon BID’s work. Throughout the year, more than 10,000 emails were sent to businesses to keep them informed about projects, safety updates, and opportunities.
The Croydon BID management team held over 250 meetings with businesses, responding directly to concerns and identifying practical solutions. In total, 470 benefits were delivered to levy-paying members, alongside more than 200 individual business promotions across digital channels, competitions, campaigns, and professional videography.
Reducing the impact of business crime and anti-social behaviour across our town centre remains a priority. Initiatives such as our Street Ranger team and the Croydon BID Radio Link provide real-time support, visibility and reassurance to businesses. Working collaboratively with our partners, we continue to deliver practical action that supports a safer environment. Our enhanced four-day cleansing service is providing additional resource as we work towards a cleaner, more welcoming town centre.
Stronger marketing campaigns, increased energy through events and activations, and the launch of the Checkout Croydon card have all added tangible value in encouraging people back into the town centre.
Beyond the numbers, this is about people, a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference for everyone who uses Croydon town centre. There is more to do, and we are determined to deliver even greater practical and visible value for levy-paying businesses, strengthen confidence in Croydon, and create a town centre we can all be proud of. These highlights reflect the commitment we make every day to achieving that.
The 2025–2026 Business Highlights reflect Croydon BID’s ongoing commitment to delivering visible, measurable impact for its 470+ levy-paying businesses and the wider town centre.
