Croydon BID Street Rangers deliver big in February 2025

The Croydon Business Improvement District (BID) Street Rangers have stepped up this February, covering 700km on patrol, engaging with 1,170 businesses, and providing support across Croydon town centre.
Below provides a snapshot of their contributions in February 2025:

Key Achievements:

  • Welfare Checks: The Rangers conducted 49 welfare checks, offering vital support to street-based individuals and ensuring those in need were properly cared for.
  • Business Support: 43 incidents of business support were addressed, including conflict resolution, crime prevention, and providing reassurance to staff and customers during difficult situations.
  • Arrests: The team played a role in supporting 5 arrests, demonstrating their proactive approach to maintaining safety and assisting law enforcement.

Incident Highlights:

  • Support Following a Serious Injury: Rangers assisted a store when a customer had a serious fall and injury, helping to clear the store and support staff until paramedics arrived.
  • Shoplifting and Weapon Seizure: Rangers supported a shoplifting incident, which resulted in the perpetrator being arrested for the offence and possession of a bladed article.
  • Supporting Vulnerable Staff: Rangers helped volunteer staff at a local charity shop deal with a customer refusing to leave the changing rooms. The situation was peacefully resolved with the individual leaving the premises after engagement from the Rangers.

From managing welfare checks to assisting with serious incidents, the Rangers continue to be a welcomed and supportive presence in Croydon town centre. As we move into March, the Street Rangers will continue to respond to incidents and offer support  to local businesses,
