Croydon BID Street Rangers: Q3 2025/26 Impact Report

From October to December 2025, the Croydon BID Street Ranger team played a vital role in supporting the town centre through the busy festive period, delivering increased visibility, reassurance, and direct support to businesses, visitors, and workers.

During Q3, the team completed 1,891 hours of patrol, covering 3,121km on foot – the equivalent of over 4.1 million steps. Alongside this visible presence, the Street Rangers carried out 3,564 business visits, supported 205 incidents, facilitated 12 arrests, and helped recover £9,233 in stolen goods.

Key Contributions:

  • The team carried out 3,564 business visits and engagements, maintaining strong relationships with retailers, hospitality venues, and town centre operators.
  • 205 incidents were supported, including shoplifting, conflict resolution, first aid, welfare concerns, and enforcement of banning notices.
  • Ranger interventions contributed to 12 arrests, working in close partnership with the Town Centre Metropolitan Police Team.
  • £9,233 in stolen goods was recovered, helping to reduce losses for local businesses.
  • 30 rough sleepers were engaged and supported, with appropriate signposting to local services.

Additional Activities and Achievements:

To meet increased demand during the Christmas trading period, Croydon BID extended Street Ranger coverage from five days to seven days a week throughout December. This expansion delivered an additional 700 hours of on-street visibility, providing extra reassurance for shoppers, businesses, and visitors at the busiest time of year.

To further support evening and night-time activity, the team also extended patrol hours until 9pm on key festive party dates. These enhanced patrols helped manage footfall, support the evening economy, and respond quickly to incidents as the town centre became busier later into the evening.

Croydon BID also led the town centre’s participation in the National Business Crime Centre’s Safer Business Action (SaBA) Week, which ran from Monday 10 to Friday 14 November 2025.

Working closely with the Metropolitan Police and local partners, Croydon BID, alongside its Street Rangers, coordinated a programme of targeted enforcement operations, staff training, and public engagement. The focus was on tackling business crime, supporting frontline staff, and strengthening collective approaches to town centre safety.

In particular, the Corydon BID Street Rangers supported:

  • 25 police and security interventions, including 13 stop-and-searches and 2 arrests
  • 44 businesses visits, including senior-level engagement with major employers and local operators
  • 20 venues trained on the Croydon BID Radio Link and CBCP scheme, with 2 radios issued, 2 new applications pending, and 97 businesses supported overall

Looking ahead:

As the team moves into Q4, Croydon BID Street Rangers remain focused on maintaining high visibility, supporting businesses, and continuing strong partnership working to address business crime and community safety challenges across the town centre.
