Croydon BID Street Rangers: Q4 2025/26 Impact Report

From Jan–Mar, the Croydon BID Street Rangers delivered 1,416 hours of patrol, covering 2,155km, completed 3,754 business engagements, supported 183 incidents, assisted 9 arrests, and helped recover around £7,275 in goods for local businesses.

The Croydon BID Street Rangers have continued to provide a strong and consistent presence across Croydon town centre, supporting businesses, engaging with partners, and responding to incidents in real time. The team remained closely integrated with local policing teams and the wider Croydon Business Crime Reduction Partnership (CBCP), ensuring a coordinated approach to town centre safety.

Key Contributions:
  • 3,754 business visits and engagements were completed, maintaining consistent contact with retailers, hospitality venues, and town centre stakeholders.
  • 183 incidents were supported, including shoplifting, anti-social behaviour, and welfare and reassurance calls.
  • 9 arrests were supported, achieved through close partnership working with the Metropolitan Police.
  • An estimated £7,275 in recovered stock, reducing direct losses for businesses across Croydon town centre.
Operational Development & Capability:
  • The Croydon BID Street Ranger team completed refresher Physical Intervention training during the quarter, strengthening their frontline capability and resilience.
  • Following this, the service was further enhanced through the introduction of plain clothes deployment in support of partner security teams. This development has already demonstrated impact, with early deployments resulting in multiple successful interventions and stock recoveries, including joint working with major retailers such as M&S and Primark.
Notable Activity & Business Impact:
  • The team delivered a number of high-impact interventions across the quarter. One notable incident involved support to Specsavers, resulting in the recovery of over £550 worth of stolen stock.
  • In addition, the Street Rangers supported 15 further stock recoveries, whereby the stock value exceed £200 in value per incident.
  • The team also continued proactive partnership working with the Metropolitan Police, including joint patrols and weapons sweeps, supporting wider enforcement and deterrence activity across the town centre. A key incident saw Street Rangers assist officers from the MET Police ‘Response Team’ during a challenging situtation at Iceland, reinforcing the importance of coordinated frontline support between agencies.
Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) Awareness Week:
  • A key focus of the quarter was Croydon BID’s involvement in National BCRP Awareness Week 2026 (16–20 March 2026), which brought together police officers, Street Rangers, and local businesses to strengthen partnership working and intelligence sharing. Throughout the week, Croydon BID Street Rangers supported coordinated activity across the town centre, including business engagement visits, Croydon BID Radio Link checks and targeted patrols. This included direct engagement with CBCP members and intelligence gathering across key sectors, including local hotels, which has since developed into a wider partnership response involving police and council partners.
Looking Ahead:

As the team moves into a fresh quarter, the Croydon BID Street Rangers will continue to focus on high-visibility patrols, proactive business engagement, and strengthened partnership working with police and CBCP members to tackle business crime and support town centre safety.
