Gender-based violence remains one of the most pervasive human rights violations globally, affecting individuals of all backgrounds. Through this campaign, Croydon is uniting partners, professionals, and the wider community to take a stand against abuse, challenge misogyny, and support those affected.
Key Events Taking Place in Croydon
A number of events will be hosted throughout Croydon Council’s 16-day campaign, including awareness walks, specialist workshops, and professional training sessions designed to educate and empower the local community.
VAWG Awareness Walk – Tuesday 25 November, 3:30pm to 7:00pm
Organised by the Croydon VAWG Network, Global Majority Heritage Domestic Abuse Partnership, and Croydon Council, this awareness walk invites residents to come together in solidarity. The walk will conclude at Croydon Town Hall, where attendees can take part in an exhibition, hear survivor stories, and join bystander intervention training.
Croydon’s First VAWG Conference – Thursday 27 November, 9:00am to 4:00pm
This landmark event will bring together key speakers and sector experts to share insights, explore solutions, and strengthen collective action against gender-based violence across the borough.
When Technology Turns Toxic: AI, Abuse & The Black Femme Experience – Friday 28 November, 10:00am to 11:30am
Hosted by HERSANA, this insightful session explores how technology and artificial intelligence can be misused to perpetrate abuse, and how emerging digital tools are reshaping the experience of Black femmes online.
Incel Culture and Misogyny Webinar – Thursday 4 December, 10:30am to 11:30am
Delivered by BKH, this online session examines the rise of incel culture, the spread of online misogyny, and how professionals can identify and respond to these evolving risks.
Holding Preventative Conversations with Young People – Monday 8 December, 3:45pm to 4:45pm
Led by Bold Voices, this workshop supports educators and community professionals in initiating meaningful conversations with young people about gender-based violence and healthy relationships.
