Croydon BID Cleansing Team: Q2 2024 Impact Report

In the second quarter of 2024, the Croydon BID cleansing team continued its commitment to enhancing the cleanliness of Croydon town centre through effective graffiti removal, thorough area cleaning, and dedicated services for businesses of all sizes.
At Croydon BID, we recognise the importance of maintaining a clean and inviting town centre. Our dedicated cleansing team, consisting of two professionals, visits Croydon town centre twice a week, starting at 4:30am in the morning when the town centre is sleeping. This service supports over 1,800 additional hours of cleansing support annually.

Their efforts include regular deep cleaning of hotspots and pavements, targeting the removal of chewing gum, and a tailored ‘Business Cleansing Service’ designed to meet the specific needs of our members. Whether it’s cleaning shop fronts, ensuring spotless windows, or removing unsightly graffiti, our team is committed to making Croydon a cleaner place to live, work and visit.

Q2 Activity Highlights

  • Graffiti and Fly Poster Removal: The team successfully removed 396 pieces of graffiti and fly posters, focusing on challenging and hard-to-reach areas within the town centre.
  • Pavement and Area Cleaning: A total area of 7,600 square meters of pavements was deep cleaned, including the removal of chewing gum, with a further 6,200 square meters cleaned, ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors.
