Visitors to Croydon town centre will be able to go back to prehistoric times this summer – by following a trail of life-sized toy brick dinosaur models.
From 31 July to 18 August, Brickosaurs, organised by Croydon BID and Centrale & Whitgift shopping centres, will see 12 large scale models appear across the two shopping centres, with free, fun activities accompanying them, including selfie points, fossil making and palaeontology workshops, offering something for all the family.
It’s the second time Croydon has welcomed these life-sized Lego brick creations to the town centre, following the hugely-popular safari trail in 2019. People of all ages will have the chance to be transported back in time and gaze at the amazing Velociraptor, Pteranodon, Diplocaulus, Dimetrodon, Tethyshadros and many more as we bring the two shopping centres to life.
Croydon BID Chief Executive Matthew Sims said: “This event is like no other. The life-sized models are an amazing sight and we hope will enthral every member of the family. We’ll have dinosaur footprints to each exhibit, freebies for youngsters and the chance to learn more about our prehistoric friends – all in a COVID-safe manner.”
Jo Bailey, General Manager at Centrale & Whitgift Shopping Centre added: “This is a hugely exciting event for all ages and we are delighted to be working with Croydon BID and the team on what we are confident will be a real treat for our customers. We very much hope that events such as these will support the revival of our town centre as we look to recover from the past year. We look forward to welcoming you all."
All activities will be carried out in a COVID-secure manner and in line with current guidelines.
