Wickham-Anderson, celebrated for her work with Black Voices, and writer-director Mervyn Weir, have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to this powerful show, which celebrates the 76th anniversary of the Windrush and showcases Jamaica’s culture, music, and identity.
The Black British Theatre Awards (BBTA’s) were founded to honour and uplift the immense impact of Black artists in theatre, highlighting their invaluable contributions to the UK’s cultural fabric. Since the 1950s, with the arrival of African and Caribbean communities in Britain, Black performers have enriched the arts with unique perspectives, playing a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s theatrical landscape.
Following sold-out performances in London, including the West End, the hit musical is coming to Fairfield Halls for one night only on Saturday 2nd November 2024.
