Summer fun in Croydon: Free kids’ events and activities in the town centre

Hey parents! Looking for free and fun ways to keep the little ones entertained this summer? Croydon town centre is buzzing with exciting activities that won’t cost you a penny. From seaside games to creative workshops, we’ve got the ultimate guide to ensure your summer holiday is packed with adventure.

1.      Costa Del Croydon

Centrale Shopping Centre car park has transformed into a rooftop beach experience, with free activities on offer including a giant sandpit, water splash zone, and table tennis! Each week there is also a free programme of events for all ages, click here for the latest schedule. Open every day from 1st – 28th August. Book free tickets here. Walk ins also welcomed.

2.      ‘Come As You Really Are’

‘Come As You Really Are’ by Hetain Patel is a vibrant celebration of hobbies and passions, showcasing thousands of objects crafted or collected by hobbyists across the UK. The diverse collections include Transformers, Spiderman, My Little Pony and much more! Open every Wednesday to Sunday. Book free tickets here. Walk ins also welcomed.

3.      Art & Craft Activities

Kids of all ages can enjoy a variety of free craft activities in and around Croydon Clocktower every weekend throughout August! On August 23rd and 24th is the Queen’s Gardens Party, jam-packed with arts & crafts, storytelling, and live performances!

4.      Pollock’s Toy Museum

This pop-up exhibition in the Whitgift Centre displays toys from various generations, including items designed and made in Croydon. The museum regularly holds live toy theatre performances, recently showing Aladdin and The Children in The Woods. Open every Saturday 11am-4pm. No booking is required.

5.      Rewind: This is Croydon’s Music

The exhibition, held at the Museum of Croydon, highlights the borough’s rich musical legacy, spanning multiple generations and genres. It features a variety of objects, images, and stories collected from the local music community. A variety of fun craft activities will also take place at the exhibition every Wednesday. The exhibition opens every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday and no booking is required.

6.      The Kids’ Table

The Kids’ Table takes over Boxpark Croydon every Sunday 12-4pm (excluding large event days) to provide a range of arts, crafts, and creative table-top fun! First come, first served and free of charge to Boxpark customers.
