Croydon BID add colour and vibrancy with planting initiatives

Croydon Town Centre gets a splash of colour with the introduction of two new greening sites.
Croydon BID’s March greening projects have seen the installation of two new planting areas along Wellesley Road and outside West Croydon Station.

The greening team have completely transformed the two pedestrian zones, bringing colour and life to these once neglected planting areas.

Wellesley Road

The team stripped out 180sq meters of dead and overgrown planting, replacing with two large Olive trees and some Phormium plants.

They also installed 38 large terracotta pots filled with fresh flowers compost, alongside a selection of evergreen and seasonal flowering plants including Camelia, Lavender, Agapanthus, Gold Euonymus and Heuchera.

West Croydon

The team stripped out 25sq meters of dying plants and replaced with fresh window flowers, green Euonymus hedge and Bay trees.

Both Wellesley Road and West Croydon platers, which were in desperate need of some life, have been completely transformed by our greening team. Both planters are located in high footfall areas, so the transformation can be enjoyed by all employees, residents and visitors of Croydon Town Centre.

Brightening up our streets by transforming neglected areas into vibrant outdoor spaces is just one of the many ways we are helping to shape first impressions of Croydon Town Centre.

Croydon BID works with our contractors Window Flowers to brighten up spaces across the town centre to deliver colour and vibrancy to areas of neglect.
