We’re delighted to announce that Croydon’s Christmas Market is returning this winter, even bigger and better than before.

This year, it will be open from the 28th November until the 15th December 2019, running daily from 10am to 6pm. There will be an increase in presence, with space for 40 chalets, with the additional attraction of children’s activities.

With all the Christmas celebrations, a star studded switching on of the Christmas lights, an eclectic mix of entertainment, as well as Croydon’s increasing popularity as an easily accessible and affordable London location, the Christmas market this year is set to sparkle.

Local businesses welcomed the Christmas market last year, especially as footfall increased in the town centre. Feedback showed that 85% of businesses surveyed would like there to be more chalets this year. There were 29 chalets last year (11 selling hot food, 7 selling other snack food and 11 selling gifts).

Matthew Sims, Chief Executive of Croydon BID said, “Our town centre really comes into its own at Christmas, as those that live work and visit, of all ages, enjoy the wide range of events and activities, the Christmas lights and shopping that form a such a big part of the festive season. Our business community and the market traders experienced a positive benefit from being part of the Croydon Christmas market brought and we therefore we expect even more interest this year.”

Visitors to the market were asked about their experience and an impressive majority (69%) rated the Christmas market 4 out of 5 stars. Highlights included the variety of hot dishes, the locally made crafts (Made in Croydon), and, of course, crepes and churros with chocolate sauce.

Tony Walsh, Managing Director of RR Events said, “It was really pleasing to see how well the first Christmas Market was received last year, and we are looking forwards to continuing our work with Croydon BID, and to grow the success of this year’s event.

Croydon is one of the most well-connected places in the UK, benefitting from three train stations that connect to London Victoria and London Bridge in just 15 minutes. Linking with the London Underground line (via the East London line) and having an extensive tram system means that Croydon is a busy, accessible destination. Shoppers from the South East and commuters from London can access Croydon, by overland tube, tram, rail, or road, being located on the A23 corridor and only 10 miles from the M25.

Furthermore, this year’s Christmas market will follow the fanfare of the reopening of Fairfield Halls. This 56 year old entertainment venue will have had a £30 million facelift and will reinstate Croydon as a key cultural centre.

The Christmas market is open to applications from traders, and we’re especially looking for festive food, crafts and gifts to feature.

Spaces are limited to 40, so please get in touch with RR Events and register as a trader www.rrevents.co.uk/register
