Croydon BID’s Christmas scheme this year has key focal points across the town centre, such as the 1000 metre display of ceiling light, 101 motifs and 24 trees, and a giant gift box, which serves as the perfect photo opportunity to present yourself and perhaps your partner, flatmates or family.
We can still enjoy the magnificent lights across our town centre, despite the lack of a light switch on event this year. Croydon BID will be lighting the town centre for over seven weeks so come and enjoy a wander through the town centre, or perhaps a socially distanced walk with a friend.
Croydon BID continues its commitment to brighten the streets and create a great impression of Croydon with this Christmas lights’ scheme. This scheme consists of thousands of LED (environmentally conscious) lights across 8 streets in the town centre: Lansdowne Road, Surrey Street, George Street East, George Street West, High Street, Church Street, Crown Hill and North End. Croydon BID will be lighting up the front of Marks & Spencer to add further brightness, in addition to the ceiling of light and life-sized gift box.
Matthew Sims, CEO of Croydon BID said:
“These are difficult times for us all after an incredibly challenging year. Our hope is to bring a smile, some joy and cheer to the people of Croydon as we try, in our own way, to enjoy a different Christmas than maybe we expected. It is more important than ever to support our local shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. We hope that the lights will provide an opportunity for you to enjoy the magic of Christmas, albeit in a socially distanced way.”
In addition to the Christmas lights, Croydon BID will be running an online Christmas campaign, including competitions, via Check Out Croydon, as well as various activities, on a much reduced scale, to enhance people’s experience of Croydon town centre throughout the Christmas period.
