The Restart Grant scheme aims to support businesses in the non-essential retail, hospitality, leisure, personal care and accommodation sectors with a one-off grant, to reopen safely as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. These grants are available from 1 April 2021 and applications should be made directly to Croydon Council (via the link below) as soon as possible.
Matthew Sims, Chief Executive of Croydon BID said:
“We are relieved that our efforts through the national Raise the Bar campaign have enabled millions of pounds in grant funding to be released to businesses with a rateable value of £51k+ in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors. We will endeavour to support our businesses in every way. Croydon BID will be working with Croydon Council to make sure businesses receive their grant funding in a timely and efficient way. We ask all eligible businesses to make immediate plans to apply for these grants.”
If your business is eligible and in the non-essential retail sector, you may be entitled to a one-off cash grant of up to £6,000, whilst eligible businesses in the hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym sectors may be entitled to a one-off cash grant of up to £18,000, both of which will be distributed by Croydon Council.
Businesses can check their eligibility (via the government link below) but the basic criteria are that the business is based in England, is rate-paying, is in the non-essential retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care or gym sector and is trading on the 1st April 2021.
Once a business’ eligibility has been checked, applications should be made urgently so that Croydon Council can process and distribute these grants to businesses efficiently and as fast as possible.
