Wimbledon Live will return to the High Street this summer
Is it Free?:
Yes

Back by popular demand, Croydon BID will bring the Wimbledon Live experience of the world-renowned, tennis Championships to our town centre once again. It will be served from the 1st July and last for two weeks, and on every single day from 11 am to 8.30 pm.

A giant screen, 4m by 2.5m will be set up, within an inviting space, complete with AstroTurf, striped blue deckchairs, comfortable bean bags and, this year, the addition of pretty, white picket fencing. Creating an accessible area, that is free to all to enjoy, gives people a place to enjoy the most prestigious and oldest competition of this very British game, or simply relax in the sunshine, eating and drinking, with their friends or colleagues.

The Wimbledon Live experience has been a resounding success. Last year, over 6,500 enjoyed the space and over 800 people watched the finals’ on the last weekend together. These exhilarating finals saw Angelique Kerber smash her way to success against Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic win his 4th Wimbledon title against Kevin Anderson.

The results of the public survey also showed that the Wimbledon Live experience was winning in every way, revealing that 95% of respondents gave it 4 out of 5 stars, and 100% thought that the Wimbledon Live experience showcased Croydon in a positive light.

Shaun Webster, Head of Operations, said,

“There is no doubt that the Wimbledon Live experience attracts people to spend time in the high street, with a 40% increase in footfall on some days. It was great to see families, employees and vendors all enjoying the experience once again.”

Behind the scenes, Croydon BID organises 24 hour security and technical operations to ensure the experience goes smoothly and maintains its smart appearance.

Croydon BID invites businesses to take full advantage of the Wimbledon Live experience; we will be able to feature any offers and discounts on Check Out Croydon, and we’ll be promoting the event through our social media platforms and the website.

Wimbledon Live is part of the summer Street Live programme of regular events, which are delivered by Croydon BID and Croydon Council.

We look forward to seeing you all there for the finals: Game, set and match!
