Cheryll was working at Croydon Council when the 1998 Crime and Disorder Act put ‘Community Safety’ on the agenda for the first time. This Act meant that there was a statutory duty for the council to work in partnership with the police, health, probation and fire services to develop and deliver local crime reduction action plans. Cheryll’s interest in this complex agenda led her to study and gain a Master’s Degree in Community Safety and Crime Prevention.
Continuing to work at Croydon Council, Cheryll became responsible for leading and managing the Safer Croydon Partnership Team, and was managing three teams within the Safety Division, Safer Croydon Partnership, CCTV and Environmental Response Team.
With an extensive knowledge of the specific issues that Croydon faces, and a wealth of experience in designing and delivering effective strategy, leading teams and coordinating projects, we are extremely pleased to welcome Cheryll to the Croydon BID team.
