Programme for ‘Fresh Perspectives’ – The 2024 Develop Croydon Conference – has been launched

Fresh Perspectives – the 2024 Develop Croydon Conference – will celebrate 15 years’ of the town’s regeneration and set out the agenda for the next 15 years’ of change.
November 26th will see a milestone event – the 15th Develop Croydon Conference which will bring together more than 200 investors, developers, policymakers, built environment consultants, and business leaders to explore the borough’s resilient past and flourishing future.

Set against the dynamic backdrop of Croydon’s evolving skyline, with several new major developments on site and with a new national government in place, this year’s conference promises insightful discussions with an array of new speakers, including national and international experts.

Katharine Glass, Director and Founder of Develop Croydon said: “Croydon is in some ways unrecognisable from 2010 – the year of the first Conference. We have seen thousands of new flats and a number of Grade A offices delivered in the town centre, the Ruskin Square and Morello developments on either side of the station have been transformative, and buildings like Saffron Square, Ten Degrees, St Michael’s and Enclave have changed the skyline. But, there are still significant town centre sites that need to come forward. At the 15th Develop Croydon Conference, we will be asking what Croydon needs next, and aiming to encourage the next wave of investment.”

The Conference will be held in the iconic Fairfield Halls, in partnership with Croydon Council, London Gatwick, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and Schroders. The programme includes keynote speeches from the Executive Mayor of Croydon, Jason Perry and Stephanie Wear, Vice President of Aviation Development, London Gatwick.

Various key stakeholders, representatives of local government, and private sector companies will also be part of the panel discussions, which include:

  • Attracting Inward Investment: attendees will gain insights into creating compelling investment propositions that drive urban development and economic vitality and hear Croydon’s pitch.
  • Sustainable Development and Better Places: discussing the concept and definition of sustainability and considering how developers can be a partner to the places they are working.
  • Between the Buildings: considering the importance of exterior architecture and the areas that connect Croydon’s iconic buildings – public spaces, parks, and thoroughfares that shape the daily experiences of residents and visitors.
  • The Rise of Town Centre Living: an exploration of the evolving landscape of residential in the town centre covering shared ownership, affordable homes, build-to-rent and homes for sale.

In the afternoon, delegates will have the opportunity to join one of two break-out sessions, the Co-creating Croydon “Lego-Serious Play” workshop by Katherine Allinson from Southern Housing or a panel discussing Industrial Evolution in Croydon.

The Conference is expected to attract over 200 delegates. The day represents a unique opportunity to learn about the latest developments in Croydon, network with key decision-makers, and share ideas about the future of the borough.

‘Fresh Perspectives’ is a must-attend event for anyone with an interest in Croydon’s regeneration, its development opportunities, and the progress Croydon is making toward becoming a more sustainable and inclusive community.
