The Spread Eagle spreads its wings and reopens!

The Spread Eagle Croydon has undergone a £300k renovation as part of handover of the Fullers-owned pub to Whelans, reopening its doors on 1st May 2023.
The pub, located on Katherine Street, is now fitted out with new equipment and furniture, a new sound system, and wide-screen televisions for showing televised sport.

The refurbishment of the Spread Eagle Croydon seals the handover of the Fullers-owned pub to Whelan’s, an Irish-themed pub chain, who has announced plans for live music, and a reopening of the pub’s upstairs theatre.

We want to be a good family-based local. We want to open the function room upstairs for events for our customers. We want to offer something for everybody. We’re trying to put on good service and good food, just as we’re known for in our other pubs in the area.
Austin Whelan, the founder of the business

New opening times are from 11 am until midnight from Monday to Saturday, and 11 am to 10.30 pm on Sundays.

From lively, Irish Traditional pubs in prime town centre locations, Whelan’s offers premium suburban food-led venues, with a warm and hearty welcome to all.

Located in London and the south, each of the spacious pubs has a unique interior, designed, and finished with an eclectic mix of décor and furnishings, with snugs, seating, outdoor areas and staging providing the perfect backdrop.

Live music and sport are our passion. Our big screens offer coverage of racing, golf, boxing, rugby and football, and we’re famed for our live music acts – including traditional Irish music – as well as quiz nights, karaoke and late-night DJs.

At the heart of every Whelan’s pub is a great traditional pub experience, offering a wide range of beers, ales, wines and spirits, and food in good old-fashioned Irish and bistro styles.
