Behind-the-scenes special effects and creature-making from London based artist Begoña Fernández Martín, showcases a range of her artwork and filmwork created in Croydon.
This collection of artworks, titled Between Realms, show the process behind the cameras, in the film industry and the art world from sketches to full-body prosthetic characters, sculptures, maquettes, costumes and even storyboards. Besides their application to commercial works (films, theatre, advertisement, music videos), special makeup effects also have their place in art, and in hobbies such as cosplay.
The collection shows how some of these cinematic worlds are being created by local artists, showing the cultural and artistic diversity in London communities, and specifically, in Croydon by a Croydon-based artist.
This exhibition has been curated by Begoña herself, showcasing samples of her work, both professional and personal, touching film, personal artwork and cosplay work.
