Back to What's On

Join the Museum of Croydon for a bespoke guided walking tour Croydon’s rich Black musical history and present #ThisIsCroydon

Whether you’re a Londoner looking for something new, a teacher interested in attending a Music Heritage Trail walk to gather learning resources for your students, a parent planning a fun family day out, an overseas visitor seeking an interesting museums and heritage experience or a simply looking to meet others with similar interests, Croydon’s Music Heritage Trail has a fantastic offer for you.

Exploring selected sites and venues focused on our Northern trail, we are partnering with Fairfield Halls and Talawa Theatre to bring you a bespoke guided walking tour of Croydon’s rich Black musical history and present led by a group of dedicated volunteers. This walking tour is just a snapshot of the Black community’s significant contribution to Croydon. Those featured on this tour have used their fame and the platform they have built to create expanses beyond music and entertainment, which will be explored in further detail on the walking tour. There is lots more information about these themes on resources such as The Croydon BME Forum, Black Cultural Archives, and The Black Curriculum. We also encourage our guests to engage with other interesting and insightful tours across London such as Black History Walks and Avril’s Walks and Talks.

Croydon’s Music Heritage Trail tours are made possible by a kind donation by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and is a part of the This is Croydon, London Borough of Culture 2023 programme.
