Settle in for a spooky double bill of Dracula classics this Halloween night at The David Lean Cinema!
Dracula (1958)
Saturday 31 October at 6.00pm
A landmark in English Gothic horror, Dracula made Christopher Lee an international star, and caused major American distributors to compete to release Hammer’s films. Elegant but shocking, this first colour adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel offered Lee’s physicality and seductive menace, opposite Peter Cushing’s fearless Van Helsing. Now, following the discovery of film elements in a Warner Bros. warehouse, a brand-new restoration brings the original uncut version (previously only seen in Japan in 1958) to UK cinemas for the first time!
Plus a 10 min short exploring the film’s restoration.
Tickets: £6-10.50
Dracula Prince of Darkness (1966)
Saturday 31 October at 8.30pm
Transylvania, 10 years after the events of Dracula. The Count is dead but when four English tourists exploring the Carpathians fail to heed warnings to keep well away from his castle, they risk terrifying consequences. With Terence Fisher’s masterful direction, this macabre sequel creates an intriguing sense of mystery, and features the gun-toting Father Sandor (Andrew Keir) as Dracula’s primary adversary.
Halloween screening, with support from Croydon Council.
60th anniversary presentation, in association with The Cinema Museum, of an original Technicolor 35mm ‘scope print.
Tickets: £6-10.50
Special Offer: Save £2 by booking both Halloween Dracula films at the same time.
