The Wendy Project

Back to What's On

The Wendy Project is a thought-provoking and immersive installation commissioned from award-winning textile artist Holly Searle AKA The Subversive Stitcher to mark International Women’s Day.

In JM Barrie’s Peter Pan when Wendy is injured in Neverland, the Lost Boys build a house around her where she lays to keep her safe whilst she recovers. Crafted from vintage tea towels which have each been embellished with powerful statements through a series of workshops with 100 women across Croydon, this new Wendy House ‘domestic art work’ will be on display throughout March in the Riesco Gallery.

The Wendy Project is a free to visit installation, situated at the Riesco Gallery inside the Museum of Croydon, Croydon Clocktower. Everyone is welcome.

Culture Croydon’s International Women’s Day programme continues with a series of free creative workshops led by four exceptional female artists. To find the full programme, please visit: https://www.culturecroydon.com/event/craft-connect-and-create-for-international-womens-day/

Note: Due to the participative nature of The Wendy Project, participants are invited to express themselves freely and therefore some of the final content may contain adult themes or strong language.
