From grime to shine: Croydon BID actions deep clean operation on George Street for the New Year

George Street ushered in the new year with an intensive, four-night cleaning operation, successfully combating unwelcome chewing gum and graffiti.
Croydon Business Improvement District (BID) has given George Street in Croydon a fresh start with an extensive clean-up covering 2,000 square metres of pavements along the bustling public route from Dingwall Road to the Alms Houses.

Following the success of a 10-hour deep clean of East Croydon train station earlier in January, the 128-hour deep clean of George Street saw the removal of 48 pieces of graffiti, giving a warm welcome to those returning to the town centre after the festive break.

In addition, Croydon BID extended their wash-down services to all levy-paying businesses along the route.

As a result, 17 businesses, including Caffè Nero, Sainsbury’s, and Santander, benefited from the service, resulting in a refreshed appearance of their storefronts.
